This is the very first time that the EAACI Early Career Research Award sponsored by Allergy Therapeutics / Bencard Allergie is launched as an annual award programme rewarding an outstanding early career clinician or scientist working in the field of allergy and immunology. The unrestricted grant of € 30.000 will support the award winner in shaping their professional career and enable the exploration of novel and innovative ideas in ongoing or new research or clinical projects.
Research and clinical science are at the heart of Allergy Therapeutics and Bencard Allergie as this is key to develop new approaches ultimately improving the lives of allergic patients and their loved ones. Having the chance to support especially early career candidates with high potential, together with EAACI, is very important to us. We want to support translating next generation discoveries to bring them to the field, reflecting our visionary approach, history of innovation and our pioneering spirit.
If you want to learn more about our current idea on how to improve patients’ lives, please visit Transforming lives, if you want to have a glimpse into the future, please visit Bencard Adjuvant Systems.
Scope of the award
The EAACI Early Career Research Award sponsored by Allergy Therapeutics/Bencard Allergie offers funding for early-career researchers (both clinical and non-clinical) engaged in allergen immunotherapy and immune modulation, enabling them to cultivate their research identity. Through innovative projects, they will have the opportunity to generate data that supports applications to national and international grant bodies, furthering their development and allowing them to lead their own independent research programmes.
This scheme is open to EAACI Junior Members (JMs) who have conducted their research mainly in, but not limited to, European centres and demonstrated an impressive track record in publications, particularly in the fields of allergen immunotherapy, respiratory or food allergy and clinical immunology. Their activity in allergy and immunology should reflect their drive, dedication, and contribution to advancing scientific knowledge, clinical practices, and outreach in the area of immunotherapy.
The primary aim of such an award is to assist researchers in gathering initial data, testing innovative ideas, or developing proof-of-concept work. This initial support enables researchers to conduct initial studies to ascertain whether their ideas or hypotheses are viable, acquire data that can enhance the credibility of a research project and make it more competitive for larger external grants or funding opportunities, initiate new research initiatives with the intention of transforming them into larger, more comprehensive projects, and encourage the exploration of novel or high-risk ideas that may not yet qualify for more significant funding.
Who can apply
EAACI Junior members (Clinical and non-clinical) that are in the early stages of their academic careers, such as postdoctoral fellows or newly appointed faculty members.
EAACI Junior members (clinical and non-clinical) who are ready to design, plan and deliver their own innovative research project that aims to advance understanding in the field of allergen immunotherapy and / or develop methodologies, conceptual frameworks, tools or techniques that could improve patient quality of life receiving immunotherapy.
